Julian Castro Opens Campaign Headquarters

A Leader for Today.  A Vision for Tomorrow.

San Antonio, Texas - On Saturday, February 7, along with friends, family and supporters, Julian Castro, with his forward-thinking campaign to succeed term-limited incumbent Phil Hardberger as San Antonio Mayor, opened the doors to his campaign headquarters at 3003 Broadway.

The campaign headquarters will serve as the hub of activity for a campaign that intends to reach out to all voters in San Antonio and employ a candidate driven, hands on campaign.  Castro has entered his campaign on a vision that makes San Antonio competitive in today's global economy, getting the basics right and enhancing San Antonio's quality of life.

"We want to set the tone that our campaign is about to inviting in and including everyone.  The same way our headquarters will be open to all, I want to have the same policy as mayor at City Hall, " said Castro.

"My vision for San Antonio is that every family have the opportunity to pursue the American dream right here in out city.  Every child should be able to get an excellent education, attend college and pursue their career dreams right here, " he added.

For the grand opening Castro was joined by special guest, Cuauhtemoc "Temo" Figueroa, President Barack Obama for America National Campaign Field Director who conducted a field training immediately following the grand opening celebration.  "I believe in Julian and his vision for San Antonio.  The grassroots support he has is amazing.  He has a base of support that is eager and willing to learn about the mechanics of winning a campaign.  I look forward to working with Julian and all his volunteers for a victory in May," said Figueroa.

Douglas Smith, a campaign volunteer attending the grand opening stated, "I just moved back to San Antonio and I am excited about this campaign and all the energy that surrounds the campaign headquarters.  My family and I are going to do all we can to help get Julian elected."

Castro thanked all the supporters and campaign volunteers who attended the opening.  The campaign headquarters will be open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  The phone is number 210-314-7707, and the campaign website is www.castroformayor.com.

Castro, a native of San Antonio, is a graduate of Stanford and Harward Law School.  He served on the city council from 2001 to 2005 representing District 7.
